This book was fascinating! It was amazing to read This book was fascinating! It was amazing to read how study after study shows how certain foods can kill cancer cells. He also highlights all of the healthiest foods for your body.

My top takeaways from this book:

*skip a few meals each week (whether that be breakfast, lunch, or dinner - you don’t have to eat 3 meals every day).
*it’s important to eat a more plant-based diet filled with fruit & veggies
*eat more fish
*eat less meat (or no meat at all)
*eat more nuts, seeds, & beans
*avoid artificial sweeteners
*limit processed foods

I used to feel so bloated and ever since cutting out artificial sweeteners that bloated feeling is 100% gone. No more Zero Sugar creamer or Vitamin Water - it’s all a scam to make you think you are being healthy - when really it’s not healthy for you at all.

The healthiest foods for your body are:
-tea & coffee (drinking 2 to 3 cups of green tea a day is associated with a 44 percent reduced risk of developing colon cancer)
-fruit (apples, stone fruit like apricots peaches and mangoes, all berries, kiwi)
-veggies (broccoli, carrots, eggplant, tomatoes, mushrooms)
-fish (people who eat seafood live longer. Studies have found an association between seafood intake and reduced risk of cancer)
-cheese (Camembert, Gouda, Munster) one to three slices of cheese per day is associated with a 62 percent reduction in the risk of lung cancer.
-nuts & seeds (walnuts, pecans, almonds, cashews, pistachios, pine nuts, sesame seeds, flaxseed, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds)
-beans (black beans & chickpeas)
-soy (edamame, soy sauce, soy milk, tofu)
-beer & wine (drinking one glass of wine per day was associated with a 39 percent decreased risk of colorectal cancer)
-dark chocolate
-olive oil, herbs, & spices

I love how easy it is to incorporate these healthy foods into your daily life.
I popped into my new favorite bookstore today (@be I popped into my new favorite bookstore today (@beachtownbooks) and picked up 2 new books to read:
✨One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle
✨This Time Tomorrow by Emma Straub

It feels so good to be buying from a local small business bookstore, instead of my usual Amazon (😬 guilty).

Women in leadership, diversity, climate change, wo Women in leadership, diversity, climate change, women’s rights, anti-racism and intersectionality are a few of the important topics covered in Nature, Culture & the Sacred. I read and loved every single word of this book. It is so inspiring to see so many women creating positive change for our planet, environment, relationships & culture 🌎.

Learn from and be inspired by women who are leading the way toward transformative social and ecological change.

Nina is a social entrepreneur who is passionate about reinventing leadership and co-creating a healthy, peaceful, and equitable world for all. In her book Nature, Culture, and the Sacred: A Woman Listens for Leadership, Nina Simons offers practical guidance and inspiration for anyone who aspires to grow into their own unique form of leadership on behalf of positive change. Inspired and informed by Indigenous wisdom keepers who are leading the way towards a regenerative future, she invites women and people of all genders to, as Joanna Macy suggests, “see with new and ancient eyes.”

Weaving her own insights together with reflections from cutting-edge leaders such as Terry Tempest Williams, Jeannette Armstrong, Alixa Garcia and V (formerly Eve Ensler), Nina opens thought-provoking pathways for reflection and growth. Discussion guides for each chapter offer prompts for engaging with radical anti-racism and intersectionality. In this essential handbook for navigating these perilous times with clarity and joy, Nina invites us to remember and reclaim our sacred relationship to the Earth by rebalancing our selves and our societies.
I had the best time taking my kiddos to our local I had the best time taking my kiddos to our local bookstore today (@beachtownbooks)! It was the cutest bookstore with so many great books and lots of little nooks. We loved checking out the childrens section (& trying out all the different comfy chairs and step stools throughout the store). We bought 2 books for mama, 1 for Brecken, & 1 for Colton:
✨ The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah
✨ Breathe Mama Breathe by Shonda Moralis
✨A Nightly Reading by Jeffrey Shukis
✨A is for Apple by Tiger Tales

It was such a fun experience, we can’t wait to go back! & I was amazed by Brecken’s ability to read her own book when we got home 📚 I highly recommend visiting @beachtownbooks or your local bookstore.
Currently Reading ✨ Daisy Jones & the Six by Ta Currently Reading ✨
Daisy Jones & the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

We read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo for book club and I loved it, so I’m excited to read another book by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I’m just starting page 1 and I can’t wait to see how this is!

A gripping novel about the whirlwind rise of an iconic 1970s rock group and their beautiful lead singer, revealing the mystery behind their infamous break up.

Everyone knows Daisy Jones & The Six, but nobody knows the real reason why they split at the absolute height of their popularity…until now.

Daisy is a girl coming of age in L.A. in the late sixties, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go-Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock and roll she loves most. By the time she’s twenty, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things.

Another band getting noticed is The Six, led by the brooding Billy Dunne. On the eve of their first tour, his girlfriend Camila finds out she’s pregnant, and with the pressure of impending fatherhood and fame, Billy goes a little wild on the road.

Daisy and Billy cross paths when a producer realizes the key to supercharged success is to put the two together. What happens next will become the stuff of legend.
