“When my kids were young, we had favorite books we read every night. The Very Patient Gus Davis would have definitely become one of those favorites. Gus is so lovable and charming. Our dog is a part of our family just like Gus is a part of Bean's family. Such an adorable and relatable story.” —Cecille Katz, applications engineer, mother of two kids and a fur baby
“I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Very Patient Gus Davis by Laurie Trumble Davis! I especially appreciated how it provides helpful strategies to develop the new skill of patience for its audience. Playfully using redirection to delay immediate gratification (so crucial in today’s culture!), Gus is set up for success by his trusted pal, Bean. The book beautifully illustrates that children (and Gus!) can nurture and strengthen the skill of patience when in a supportive environment. Patience is a foundational skill that underpins many aspects of child development, including emotional regulation, executive functioning, social skills, persistence, and self-efficacy. With its engaging storytelling and beautiful illustrations, the book inspires children to embrace patience as they embark on their own learning adventures. It is a must-read for anyone seeking to instill valuable life skills in young learners!” —Lynn Shevory, Montessori educator
“The Very Patient Gus Davis is yet another adorable story by Laurie Trumble Davis that draws us into the heartwarming relationship between Bean and her French bulldog, Gus, while teaching us important life lessons along the way.
