Julie Fudge Announces the Upcoming Release of Her New Book ‘Walkin’ After Midnight’ to Celebrate and Honor Her Mother, the iconic Patsy Cline

‘Walkin' After Midnight’ is a new children’s book written by Julie Dick Fudge (Patsy Cline’s daughter) and Judith A Proffer.

Patsy Cline made a profound and indelible impact on country music before a plane accident claimed her life in 1963. She remains one of the biggest names and influences in country music, and was one of the first country music singers to cross over into pop music. Cline recorded "Walkin' After Midnight" in 1957 and it became her first big hit, placing #2 on Billboard's country charts. In 2020 the 1957 release was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

Patsy Cline’s daughter, Julie Dick Fudge, will be releasing a new book ‘Walkin' After Midnight,’ co-authored with Judith A. Proffer, to pay tribute to her legendary mother Patsy Cline. The book will be released on International Country Music Day (September 17, 2024). This holiday was established in 2003 and was meant to be a way that country music artists and listeners could gather and appreciate the genre. The hope was to celebrate it, educate others about it, and highlight the diversity within country music.

“My mother was a beautiful force of nature and ahead of her time in many ways,” says Julie Dick Fudge. “Patsy Cline’s Walkin’ After Midnight imagines the dreams she may have had as a young girl while also addressing loss and sadness and the joy of visiting with loved ones in our dreams. Over the years there have been many meaningful ways that her legacy has been honored and out little book is a reminder that the spirit of Patsy Cline - along with her music - lives on and on.”

In Patsy Cline’s Walkin’ After Midnight, little Patsy Cline is a dreamer who dreams great big sweet and shiny dreams.

Patsy has a big voice and a big heart - and she longs to share both with the world.

Whether she's fizzing sodas in a soda shop or piddling in the garden, Patsy daydreams of one day singing onstage at Carnegie Hall and The Grand Ole Opry. She muses about performing in Las Vegas - as the first female singer to headline her own show. She also dreams of hearing herself sing on the radio and even daydreams of having her own museum.

Patsy's sleep dreams are also filled with adventure and blazing color.

But Patsy's favorite dreams of all are her walking after midnight dreams - she calls it dream walking. She knows she's sleeping and yet it all seems so very, very real. It's when life and loss entwine and comfort. It's where imagination and possibilities come together with surprising encounters.

A tender book about daydreams, sweet dreams and dream walking after midnight from Patsy Cline's daughter Julie Dick Fudge, and Judith A. Proffer, the award-winning author of Broadway Baby, Bondi & Poppy Help Heal the Planet and When We Stayed Home.

"Music. Life. Loss. And the singular sensation that is forever Patsy Cline." - Darius Rucker

Walkin’ After Midnight will be released on September 17, 2024 (on International Country Music Day), published by Meteor 17 Books. It is available for sale on Amazon.
